Community Doula Program

The word "doula" is a Greek word for "woman servant" and has been used as a term for trained non medical birth professional.  Whether you are having a c-section or natural vaginal birth, doulas help both mother and partner with physical and emotional support before, during and after childbirth.  Our Community Doulas are trained to provide detailed information about the pregnancy, labor process, and breastfeeding.  All participants in the program must live in Opelousas and plan on delivering at Opelousas General Hospital System. 

  • FREE Doula Services for qualifying low income mothers

  • Sliding-Scale Fees: Eligibility based on family income and size.  This allows mothers to pay what they can afford in a flexible way.
